Alzheimer’s Awareness Month: Caring Together

Alzheimer’s Awareness Month: Caring Together

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. It’s a time to recognize the many people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, as well as the families and caregivers who support them. This month reminds us that compassionate support, early conversations with a primary care provider, and steady care coordination can make a meaningful difference in quality of life.

Why This Month Matters

Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s is not only about memory. It is also about preserving dignity, safety, and comfort. Each person’s experience with Alzheimer’s is unique. As needs change, the right support can help families feel more informed, less overwhelmed, and better connected to the resources that can help.

How Arkos Health Supports You

We provide care planning support for all members to help them navigate their health needs. Our focus is on empowering families through clear information and coordinated support that connects them with the appropriate medical professionals.

Here is how we help:

  • Identify concerns early: We listen to changes shared by members or caregivers, including memory concerns, confusion, or difficulty completing daily tasks.
  • Support medical evaluation: We provide education on the importance of discussing symptoms with a primary care provider or specialist and help families prepare for the visit.
  • Coordinate care: Our teams assist with scheduling appointments, arranging transportation, and facilitating referrals when they are needed.
  • Include caregivers: With permission, we involve caregivers in conversations, so they understand care plans and feel supported.
  • Monitor safety: During assessments, we observe concerns such as medication confusion, missed appointments, or difficulty following instructions and escalating these concerns appropriately.

You Are Not Alone

When someone you love is living with Alzheimer’s disease, daily routines, safety needs, and changes in memory can feel overwhelming. At Arkos Health, we are here to offer support that helps you stay connected, informed, and cared for.

Alzheimer’s disease affects every family differently, and the path forward is not easy. Your Arkos Health Nurse Case Manager will partner with you and the rest of your healthcare team to understand what is changing and support a care plan that fits your needs. Whether by phone, at home, or through a virtual visit, our role is to walk with you, help you stay connected to care, and make sure you have support when you need it most.
